Senator arrested in airport
Associated Press - August 27, 2007 6:54 PM ET MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Court records show that Idaho Senator Larry Craig pleaded guilty earlier this month to misdemeanor disorderly conduct after being arrested in June at a Minneapolis airport. A court docket from Hennepin County shows Craig pleading guilty to the disorderly conduct charge on August 8. In return, the court dismissed a charge of gross misdemeanor interference to privacy. Records show the veteran Republican senator was fined $1,000, plus $575 in fees. He was placed on unsupervised probation for a year. A sentence of 10 days in the county workhouse was stayed. The story was first published today in Roll Call ... a Capitol Hill newspaper. The newspaper's Web site says Craig was arrested by a plainclothes officer investigating complaints of lewd conduct in the men's room at the airport. In a statement issued today, Craig sys he was not involved in any inappropriate conduct. Craig, who is up for re-election next year, says at the time of the incident he complained to police that - quote - "they were misconstruing my actions." Craig says in hindsight he should have pled guilty ... but was - quote - "trying to handle this matter myself quickly." There must be something about being a Republican that drives men to...other men. |

Turns out when you learn what really happened, Craig is right. 1. Peering into the crack between the door and jamb of the stall. (Maybe some stall doors swing shut in that bathroom, and have no locks or inoperative locks. You have to either look in the crack or barge in to see if it's occupied. Or bend down and look under the door for feet. Been in similar situations myself.) 2. Foot touching the foot of the person in the adjacent stall. (Craig said he has a wide stance when squatting. Sounds perfectly reasonable. Remember Johnny Bench?) 3. Reaching under the divider and into the adjacent stall. (Craig said he dropped a piece of paper. Can happen to anybody.) So there you are. The man is innocent and probably the victim of a smear campaign, or an overly aggressive cop wanting to pad his stats. BTW, did you know that in 1421 the Chinese circumnavigated the world in huge ships, mapped the Americas and established the Apache tribe in Arizona? Happened right after the Vikings went home. Anyway, I hope you show proper contrition about what you said concerning Craig. --Vic |

True - and they are held accountable for their lapses. Nothing to do with gays or "morality", but my daughter-in-law emailed this to me this morning. Makes you realize where we are headed as a society as we allow more and more government regulation of our lives: ---------------------------------------------------------- TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking . As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms....... WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to the m! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility , and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! If YOU are one of them...CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were. ------------------------------------------------------------ Eisboch |

He tapped his foot? This was a setup, plain and simple. The guy walked in and took a crap in the middle of a "show of force" sting on the part of the local PD. As to the plea, it was probably a bad decision, but can you imagine if he had gone to trial? The haters and bigots on the left would have had a field day, probably made the right decision in that case. Just happens one of Clintons investigators dug it up, nothing new, like I said, if you can't win in the voting booth... |

Basically I think it is another setup, so most of the rest is moot. The vast left wing conspiracy always goes directly at whatever cause the righty has, the numbers just don't add up. I'm not surprised the democratic activist cops story is what it is either, hope he got paid well for his treason.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Anyway, according to the report, Craig "tapped his foot in a manner recognized by the officer as a signal for sex" !? He tapped his foot? This was a setup, plain and simple. The guy walked in and took a crap in the middle of a "show of force" sting on the part of the local PD. As to the plea, it was probably a bad decision, but can you imagine if he had gone to trial? The haters and bigots on the left would have had a field day, probably made the right decision in that case. Just happens one of Clintons investigators dug it up, nothing new, like I said, if you can't win in the voting booth... Craig did more than tap his foot.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Maybe according to the blogs, but not according to the police report. It was a setup, period. Next topic Harry, when you gonna' wet that hull? |

I was going to go out today, but it looks like tomorrow. I've already spliced up four new 30' docklines and an anchor line this morning. Gave away the old docklines with the sale of Yo Ho I. Dealer included a new anchor and line with the new boat, but I don't like the "hand" of 3/8" line, so I fixed up some 1/2" stuff. I can't beleive they would give anyone 3/8 on a boat that size. Seems almost unsafe, sounds good changing it over. |

Seems almost unsafe, sounds good changing it over. Oh, I think 3/8" dockline is adequate for tying up a trailerboat like mine around here. We have small tides and most of the marinas are in sheltered areas of the Bay. If a serious storm comes, you either yank the boat out of the water or double up the lines. But my boat won't be tied up at a dock for any length of line. 3/8" line is adequate for a fishing anchor, too. I just don't like it because line of that diameter tends to cut into my hands when I pull in the anchor. The 1/2" line does not.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Well that's kind of what I was thinking, an emergency situation where you needed some good, strong, rope control. That's a big boat to pull around or move in an emergency with small rope cutting your hands up. I want something I can wrap around my hand quick, and lay into. |

Yes, the party of hate and intolerance has gone through quite a contortion to read a police report about someone tapping their foot and calling it a lewd act, surprised they did not call it rape, or even dog fighting. We know they just make it up as they go along, the worst part is in the face of obvious lies from their leaders, dems don't or won't even ask, they just don't want to know. |

Oh, and what would you call reading in black and white records of someone being convicted of disorderly conduct, for tapping his foot and calling it a lewd act, or homosexual activity? Are you a mental contortionist, intellectually dishonest, or just plain ignorant? |

Are you a mental contortionist, intellectually dishonest, or just plain ignorant? Craig copped a plea. He was offered the opportunity to plead guilt to a lesser offense, and he went for it. There's nothing unusual about that. It's kind of funny that you, Chuck, and a few Republicans (very few) here and there believe Craig was duped. At least we are considering the options, your party just beleives whatever is convienient, despite any real evidence, without any real integerity. |
