I renewed mine last year, reasonably painless once you understand the
terminology. My recollection of FRN is that it is an attempt by the
FCC to tie together all licenses belonging to an individual or
corporation under a common ID number. For example if you search on my
FRN you will not only find my ham license but also the marine
licenses.
