Not even Fox (Republican talking points distributor) News would have the

I'm a republican and I don't talk points distributors anymore. With
both of my boats, I've gotten rid of the ignition points and gone with
HEI.
I installed Pertronix ignition kits in both. I really can't say they
initially start any easier, but after warm up, the engines kick right
off with very little effort. The performance is snappier, and I get a
lot better fuel per hr. I wouldn't go back to pioints distributors
if I had to.
On my 23' Marquis with the 5.7 GM (350 chevy) I'm even thinking on
going with an "MSD" (Multiple Discharge System) to see if I can add
even more spark performance. on cruise they don't do much, but under
load at 4000 rpm, I think the engine will perform better yet.
For no more than a MSD kit costs, It's at least worth a try.
Should have just broken down and purchased Mallory electronic
distributors. Cheap freakin' Republican.

Both of my boat distributors are Mallory, and you tell me where I an
get a brand new Mallory electronic distributor for the price of a
Pertronix kit ($69.00!)
I'm glad you arn't running the world.....
Pinhead:
Send them to Mallory and they'll convert them for you for $100/unit.

Send them to Mallory and they'll convert them for you for $100/unit?
Far cry from $69.00 a piece for Pertronix. Conver them? I said NEW.
not converted.
Excellent economics!
And you call me a sucker.
You're a bigger fool than I thought.
You purchased a whole electronic distributor from Pertronix for $69?
Wrong. You purchased an upgrade kit.

BTW, I sent Mallory gently used, point-based units, they exchanged them
for new electronic. It cost me $100/unit. Repeat. They replaced them
with brand new units.

You just a little embarrassed that you weren't smart enough to do the
research? All it took was a call to Mallory. I would expect a sharp
"conservative" like you to check around before making a decision.

So... they don't "convert" the distributors like you said, they
replace them with New, now like you are saying?

Where did I say I bought a NEW PERTRONIX distributor?

Nada

So, with your reasoning, I should take the distributor out, pack it,
ship it to Mallory, wait to get a "New," er, "converted" No... "NEW"
distributor, pay shipping back, re install, and retime. For about
$100.00 plus shiping and downtime.

yeah, that's a great idea when a Pertronix kit is practically a 15
minute drop-in installation (minus retiming)

"I would expect a sharp
"conservative" like you to check around before making a decision."

I've done enough reserch to know that the Pertronix kit is the better
and more economical way to go .

Thanks for the advice Goober. Maybe you should put a Mallory in
Andy's 1963 Ford Squad car. After all, it came with a Holley!

The bodies are actually different pinhead. You've got a the body of a
points distributor.

Your update is for backyard mechanics who don't know any better.

Call Mallory and ask.

jps

JOn,
Why all the animosity and anger towards the world? Chill out dude, you
will live longer.
