Ok, just wondering. I have a series I just finished - fun, light
reading and I was thinking of sending them to you if you wanted them.

But being the serious type, you probabaly wouldn't appreciate them
anyway. :)

Just type a chapter a night in here.... we all could use a little light
reading before bedtime.

Jeezum pete Doug - get a life. :)

What else am I supposed to do when I'm on hold, waiting for one of my
customers to do some binis? :-)

Ah - good point.

By the way, not to take this off topic off topic, but do you read
novels much at all - scifi/fantasy type stuff?

Lately, mostly political non-fiction. The last fiction binge involved
nothing but Hemingway for almost 6 months. I stopped after one of his books
which described two characters drinking wine with breakfast (in France). It
made me feel hung over.

Give...what's the series, and how did the motorcycle course go, and what
did you learn about countersteering?

I haven't sold her yet. The guy I had lined up was turned down by his

a "tire-kicker."

Nice spin and yet more proof the lobster boat was a narcissistic fantasy.

You don't need to sit through hours of courses to learn one rule.

I think it's quite safe to assume that if you don't know that one

Gee....ya think? Nothing like a blinding flash of the obvious. I

about
the rule, so obviously I did not know it.

You with me so far?

As far as safety, I've was handling a 47 foot boat quite nicely when

boarded
a
couple of years ago, and I was given a ticket for not having a piece

equipment NOT required by the CG. I ended up helping some young guy
learn
the rules, with the help of his CO.

Somehow, you've completely failed to convince me of your competence.
If a newcomer to this group were to ask the same basic question you
asked, there would have been 20 responses advising you that you need
to take a safe boating course. My advice that you seriously need to
take a safety course stands, and your "know-it all" responses only
re-inforce that opinion.

Why do I need to convince YOU?

I don't know, but you seem to have made it a high priority. So far,
you might have convinced yourself, but that's about it. And even that
would require a fair amount of intellectual dishonesty on your part.

Perfect analogy:

He can't tell us the water temperature. Therefore, he is not qualified to
operate any plumbing device or appliance which uses hot water.

No, John. This is the reality of the situation: Some people can survive in a
discussion involving multiple ideas simultaneously. Some people can see
connections between apparently unrelated concepts. If you ever had these
skills to start with, you've lost them. But, practice helps. I know two
people who are pushing 90 years old, but their mental acuity makes you seem
like a frog that's been pithed prior to dissection.

Not knowing the water temperature of you hot water tank will not land you in
jail.

Not allowing the CG onto your boat will because you think they need a search
warrant will.

Perhaps, but not knowing that the CG needs no warrant in no way means
someone is an usafe boater. You know that. You'll argue the point anyway,
but who cares?
