Global Itching Alert
Poison ivy may grow more virulent The Hartford Courant Poison ivy of the future may be a lot worse. Researchers have monitored the growth of poison ivy vines in today's atmospheric conditions and in conditions with elevated carbon dioxide concentrations, which global warming is expected to produce by midcentury. Not only did the elevated carbon dioxide boost poison ivy growth, but it also increased the most toxic form of urushiol, the plant chemical that causes the itchy rash in humans. The findings should interest a lot of people because a separate U.S. Forest Service study found that up to 85 percent of humans are susceptible to poison ivy. |

If it is the Hartford Courant, you can bet they have nothing more than a political agenda driving 90% of the stories they print. In a recent survey, the HC was found to be the second most biased news paper in the country. All they really do is copy the NYT stories and add a little political propoganda to keep it lively. There is little news worth reading there. Sorry Harry, the HC is little more than a PR firm for the Democratic Party. |

I never said anything about Fox news, I did cite a study done by some college in Cali. I forget which one. If you don't see the HC as biased, you either don't want to know, or you are beyond reasonable comprehension, or you have not read the paper. I live in CT, have for 50 years. |

The article doesn't contain one single word that would suggest political bias. This is not my opinion or my interpretation. This is inarguably factual. Read the article. If you disagree with my factual statement, explain why. http://www.courant.com/features/life...,5328483.story |

I don't expect you to view the HC as biased. I'm a middle of the road leftie. BTW, I looked at today's editorial page at the Courant. Real radical stuff, calling for resumption of inspections of highway bridges, a bit about golf, and a hit on a state agency that loaned money to Enron. BTW, about 72% of the country now believes Bush is a total, complete F.U. Maybe the problem with the Courant is...you.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Well I think he is a FU too, and a pussy but then again, I am not an ideologue. I did not do the study, you do not live here to see what that paper and it's extreme left (sell out to insurance companies and anyone else with a buck) agenda has done to our state. The HC is on a mission, just cause you agree with the mission does not make it unbiased. Although you may consider yourself middle of the road, most who read you would take your support of the HC alone as proof positive of it's biased agenda. Like I said, I live here, my dad reads the Journal Inquirer which basically copies the Courant and the Times word for word. |
