Mrs.E. has been spending a lot of time caring for her elderly parents
lately, one of whom had a stroke and is in rough shape. As a result, she hasn't been able to spend much time on her GB so far this season because the marina is quite a distance from out house. When I come down I spend two or three days on the Navigator so the trip is worthwhile, but it's hard for her to drive all the way to the Cape only to spend two or three hours before having to drive back. So .... We've arranged for a slip back in Scituate Harbor for the GB. Scituate is much closer to our house and was our homeport for many years before we moved down to Kingman. Depending on weather, I'll be taking it up sometime this week or next weekend. This should be interesting. The Navigator can make this voyage in about 3 hours. I figure 7 hours for the GB. I'll also have to watch tides and make sure I don't go through the Cape Cod Canal at the wrong time. The current in the canal can get as high as 7 knots, which means I'd spend an hour or so going nowhere. Should be fun on the chug chug. Eisboch |
