Default Mercury optimax 250 jet boat problem

I have a Polaris jetboat with a optimax 250hp engine, after running
fine for 1/2 hrs. The boat fells as if its running out of fuel, the
engine surges and will not go past 10 knots. I've checked all fuel
lines and filters...ok. I just bought the boat it has 30 hrs and has
always had this problem. Does anyone have any ideals?

Sounds like a major problem on a boat that has only 30 hrs on the engine.
Does this happen every time you go out, or just the last time? I know you
said it always had this problem, but for all I know you only took the boat
out once. Anyway, check for crap wound around the impeller.

Mike ...the problems happen everytime I've had it out. The impeller
is "clean" runs fine and wide open for 1/2 hr then just falls
flat...all most like a vapor lock...which it is not because running
fine for the 1/2 hr.

I gotta agree with JR, it sounds like fuel then. Proper tank venting is a
good place to start. Is this engine EFI or carb?

Sounds like my Bombardier Jetboat from
1997 with vapor lock, leave the cap open
or slightly open to allow a little bit
of air in and see if it does it again.

Maybe a piece of dirt cutting it off but
then would it still run?
