Very good photos and interesting thread. But I won't mention it to my wife (-: --Vic What I hear is it was a stupid spot to be. Looking at the boat you can tell he does not take sailing or boating seriously. Another weekend warrior who learned the hard way. As for wifes viewing, I would show it to your wife a dozen times and instill in her that this is what happens if you are not sure of where you are sailing. (flying pig take note) But I understand your concerns Vic, as all you see on TV or film of sailing 99% of the time is disasters and rough conditions...Lets face it, smooth sailing is boring on TV or the internet. Joe Actually, you're completely wrong, even though it looks like that's a reasonable statement. The guy sailing was a very experienced sailor, but made a near-fatal mistake. Bull****, look at the boat Jon, look at the boat bottom. He knows not about keeping a boat in good shape, and he's sailing into breakers when the channel through the bridge is in the middle. He's a weekend warrior as I said. He forgot that when there are surfers, you shouldn't be sailing on that side of the tower. So if there are 15 ft rollers and no one's surfing then it's cool... Sheeeeze I've sailed there before from outside to in on a Beneteau 39, no problem. But, you do have to choose your time/day well. You do? Why? Just look for surfers. As I said, he made a mistake, but he's no weekend warrior. He forgot that when there are surfers, you shouldn't be sailing on that side of the tower. So if there are 15 ft rollers and no one's surfing then it's cool... Sheeeeze There are rarely 15ft rollers there, and if there were, it would be obvious. You know nothing about the area, so you're in no position to pass judgement. I've sailed there before from outside to in on a Beneteau 39, no problem. But, you do have to choose your time/day well. You do? Why? Just look for surfers. Huh? Are you having a breakdown? -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
