What I hear is it was a stupid spot to be. Looking at the boat you
can tell he does not take sailing or boating seriously. Another
weekend warrior who learned the hard way.

As for wifes viewing, I would show it to your wife a dozen times and
instill in her that this is what happens if you are not sure of where
you are sailing. (flying pig take note)

But I understand your concerns Vic, as all you see on TV or film of
sailing 99% of the time is disasters and rough conditions...Lets face
it, smooth sailing is boring on TV or the internet.

Actually, you're completely wrong, even though it looks like that's a
reasonable statement. The guy sailing was a very experienced sailor, but
made a near-fatal mistake. He forgot that when there are surfers, you
shouldn't be sailing on that side of the tower. I've sailed there before
from outside to in on a Beneteau 39, no problem. But, you do have to choose
your time/day well.
