Charlie Morgan's post has nothing to do with my sainted mother, and
very little to do with me, but does one heck of a lot to define who he
is and how whatever it is he substitutes for a mind attempts to work.
Obviously the poor guy needs some professional help- in fact he may
well have computer privileges in some institution where they are
already attempting to do whatever might be possible for him. In my
opinion, somebody that ill deserves our concern, and when appropriate
even perhaps prayers for his speedy and full recovery. How could any
decent person be mad at a guy so obviously unable to control himself?
It would be like yelling at a six month old baby for soiling a diaper.

JimH doesn't deserve to be tarred with the same brush. He's behaving
like a gentleman, and he ought to be treated with appropriate respect.
(The heaviest thing anybody will ever carry is a grudge).

Normally, when somebody doesn't like me it simply indicates that they
are an astute judge of character. :-) Making obscene remarks about my
mother shows a really sick and twisted personality for what it
is.......and as I said earlier it's a compliment to be considered an a-
hole by his standards.

if posting under his/her real name (Charlie Morgan may be an exception to
that). In actuality, there can be millions of 'basskissers' posting on the
internet. How can you insult a fictional and anonymous character?

That is quite different than one posting with their real name/id, especially
when someone decides to direct personal attacks and insults to that person's
wife, mother or other family members.

The bottom line is that Charlie was way out of bounds and owes you an
apology.

as Rusty Redcloud, Binary Bill, and a few other handles. The guy has a
perverse sense of humor......The "Charles Morgan" is the world's
largest wooden ship, so he has named himself after the "world's
biggest woodie".
You have to wonder if he's compensating, particularly with all the
nasty and corrupted sexual images he posts.

He's normally encountered in all of his glory over on alt.sailing,
where he is typically as out of control and profane as he has been
here. He comes across as a Captain Neal wannabe without the wit or the
sarcastic class......more of a vicious little bully than anything
else. As near as I can tell, he's despised by virtually everbody on
the alt.sailing NG, including the illustrious Captain. You have to
wonder what happened in a life to turn somebody into a mean-spirited
pariah.

Most of the home grown flame wars in rec.boats result from
disagreements over issues, both boating and non. We do have a couple
fo folks who will toss in some unwarranted insults out of left field
just to get the pot boiling sometimes, but that's become increasingly
rare. This Charlie Morgan character lives to foster chaos- and picks
fights for the sheer joy of doing so.

Now that I have confirmed, at least to my own satisfaction, that he
really is mentally and/or emotionally unbalanced I'm going to try to
ignore him.
Picturing him as a developmentally disadvantagd individual who stands
slobbering on a street corner and makes obscene remarks to everybody
passing by helps clarify his chosen role. While the remarks are
offensive, it's easy to realize that if the party making them had any
ability to control himself he wouldn't do so....and there's no point
trying to engage such a person in any sort of conversation.

I apologize to the group for encouraging this jerk by responding to
him. Had I checked out his posting history and realized how sick he
is, I would have ignored him from the beginning. I will make a serious
effort to do so in the future.
