Default Charts/nav guides

Is there a good site on the web where I can buy a nav chart? Only think
I can find in my area are the book styles that cover the entire Atlantic
coast. I'm in the Hampton Roads area so just looking to know depths and
restricted areas due to all the military bases.

Thanks.
John

Have you looked at the free electronic charts online? You can print
out the areas that you really need.

Restricted areas are not always on the charts but will be mentioned in
the local "Notices to Mariners" from USCG:

Thank you.
I was hoping to have something waterproof to carry along as I explore
this area, which is new to me.

I'd suggest checking with your local marine store or even a bait and
tackle shop. They frequently sell local charts which have been
plastic laminated or printed on a water resistant material.

If that fails you could always screen print the most relevant pages
from the online charts and put them in a zip lock bag.

Thanks A lot here to explore. I'm interested in the shallows and any
thing lurking underneath. Lots of tributaries the like here.
