Ummmm, beer. Just finished brewing up the summer brews. 3 gallons of a

favorite, Austrailian Pale Ale.. ummmmmm going to be a good summer.

Cool. I've been toying with the idea of brewing some beer at home
recently. I like the IPA's, Porters, and Stouts, and like trying
different kinds.

Got any tips for someone just getting into the hobby?

Get 'cher some copper tubing for evaporation, cook up a little corn
mash with raisons for flavor, and....

Oh wait, you said beer, not white lightining.

Sorry...

Back in the day when I still...um...er...partook of the spirit if you
will, I ran into an old Master Sergeant who made his own "gun
cleaner".

Yep - whoo hoo - that was some mighty powerful gun cleaner I'll tell
you what.

Little bit for the gun, little bit for the cleaner, little bit more
for the gun, little bit more for the cleaner... The cleaner's insides
were as clean as the gun's insides if you get my drift.

Hey, speaking of gun cleaner, do you have any direct experience with
the folks at Jake's Landing?

Oh, yes. That's where I keep the boat. Archie (who owns/runs the
place) and I have had a couple of "direct" experiences.

What are you looking for?

Well, I'm wondering about how he handles customers. I'm toying with
the idea of keeping the Ranger down there for my son to use and bring
the Princecraft back here for pond jumping. When we were down there
in April, I stopped there and spoke to an older woman about putting
the boat in a slip - she was very nice, but said I would have to talk
to Archie and I've never been able to get in touch with him. She also
suggested that I could keep the boat there on a trailer and use the
launch for small bucks - just wondering if that was a good idea or
not.

It seemed like there were a lot of fishing boats in the marina so it
might be a good place to put the Ranger.

Any thoughts about the general operations of the place?

By the by, we're heading back down in July - we've got to hook up for
a trip around the lake - we'll use my boat. :)

If you ever talk to this 'Archie', I wouldn't let on I knew Jack Goff until
my fees were all paid and I had written confirmation that I had a spot.
