Reviews of "This is the Sea" series?
Hi... I'm interested in the "This is the Sea" sea-kayak "culture"
series. There are 3 dvds out now. How do they compare? I've seen #3 and really like it. Thanks! JP |

JP Hi, Can anyone tell me if there is a slang term or "nickname" for people who canoe/kayak? Canoeist and kayaker sound kinda stuffy. Thanks! K |

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! K Oh...Two more things: This will sound goofy, so please excuse...but is there a kayaking equivalent to yelling "Bingo!" when something cool happens on the water? And is there a metaphorical equivalent to the phrase a "tall order"? Dumb Qs, I know. I'd be happy to explain if you're interested. Thanks, again! |

"one armed bandits" or "handicapped boaters" for the canoeists... ;-) I believe you misspelled "Gods of the River." ;) S. And now back to your regularly scheduled thread. |

JP I've seen TITS I and II and thought they were excellent. And you should understand that I'm an old guy with a beard. I've brought them to kayaker overnights and people will watch them back to back, stopping only to refill their glasses. Only had a chance to dip into TITS III a little. So far, it's been fun. When Freya Hofmeister misses her roll, that's some gnarly water. All three are available from our own Milt Aitken's www.whitewatervideo.com. This has been an unpaid (so far) announcement. Steve |

I wish you would have asked it elsewhere, like in your own thread. So it would be on topic. And make sense. Sheesh. JP |

So: how do the vids compare? 1 to 2? Do they get better? Are they majorly different? I suppose I should just check them all out but it's a bit tough to do in the land of shoestring. Any views to enlighten beforehand appreciated. --JP |

Other people were at least nice enough to ignore it.

LOL! OK...Thanks.
Yes, you're right "tall order" is a metaphor itself Sorry for hijacking the thread. I actually just looked for the first active thread I could find. Best, K On May 14, 8:09 pm, Steve Cramer wrote: wrote: Oh...Two more things: This will sound goofy, so please excuse...but is there a kayaking equivalent to yelling "Bingo!" when something cool happens on the water? I teach my sea kayak students to yell "Qajaqpunga!", which Mike Daly assures me is Greenlandish for "We are kayaking." Otherwise, the choices are "Whoa, gnarly!" or "What an extraordinary maneuver!" And is there a metaphorical equivalent to the phrase a "tall order"? I believe the phrase "tall order" is metaphorical itself. Unless you're referring to Yao Min at the McDonald's counter. Steve |

You SHOULD have just started your own thread with a query. It was a senseless crime. Lame. Why ignore lameness? I mean, it's no biggie but you kinda wrecked my REAL thread. Again: stupid. Not a huge stupid but still... --JP |
