Thanks It seems priced a little high to me, but then again, I'm spoiled when it comes to paying for boats. Low ball the guy at $11,500 - the way the market is for these kind of boats, you might even want to try $10,000 - you never know. As to buying off eBay - you takes your chances. If I bid on it, I'd want it surveyed at least and have the trailer safety checked - it looks like a retro-fit trailer and older than the boat. At the minimum you'll want contingencies on the sale like acceptable inspection and actual run on the boat before I came across with the money. It looks to be in good shape. I know people who have purchased off eBay and been very happy. I also know people who have purchased off eBay and gotten screwed. Those who got screwed didn't take the correct precautions. |

Are you sure you want a 23' bayliner bubble boat? Just about everything about it is a compromise. It's really too small to be comfortable as an overnighter or to deal with any serious water. If you're shopping in that price range just get yourself a good day boat and forget about sleeping on it. My 2c. |

Get a survey and then you are armed with real knowledge. Fix this, fix that, or take the price to fix it off the purchase price. What if you pay and take delivery and the Insurance survey flunks and you can't insure it? I am sure you wanted to be able to use this boat, right? I just heard a guy bought a boat off e-bay and the Marina where he wanted to keep it condemned it for scrap. |

Besides all the other good advise, the outdrive is in the road/launch
position. If it was always stored this way, you will be replacing the exhaust bellows, or swimming home after launch. If it was always stored this way, you will be replacing the exhaust bellows, or swimming home after launch. JR Storing like that will also cause the raw water coolant hose to break. The reason is, the hose takes a "set" in the down position where it runs under pressure. When stored up, it stresses the hose--when run blows out where the bend is when down. Not a big deal to replace--on land ![]() |

Thanks Others have given lots of good comments on the specific ad. To answer your other question, I did buy my boat off of ebay. It was quite a bit less expensive though. It was a 1995 19 ft cuddy with a 3.7 Alpha 1 at $4,000. It was clearly stipulated by me in advance that the transaction was dependent upon my inspection. I had to drive from Pittsburgh to Cleveland to look at it and do the deal. It was in great condition, better than I had expected. Checked it out and went to his bank to do the transaction and brought it home. Previously I had purchased a fairly new Seadoo off Ebay with a similar understanding and a similar experience except I had to drive to New Jersy that time and paid more for it than for the boat ;-) Two good experiences buying for significantly below NADA. Others I am sure will be able to give you horror stories. Dave Hall |

Thanks Regardless of where you buy a boat, the $350 you pay a marine surveyor to give you a pre-purchase survey can save you more money, or tell you if the boat is worth even close to what they are asking for it. Just go to SAMS website and find one near the boat you are considering. Society of American Marine Surveyors. |
