Default Problem with 95 Yamaha 115 P 2 Stroke

Engine starts up easy when cold and runs for about 15 to 20 minutes
depending on outside temperature and then dies and will not restart for 30
minutes to an hour ( shorter interval when cooler). Getting plenty of fuel
as evidenced by film on water after cranking and fact that pump bulb is
firm. Engine is not overheating as I can put my hands directly on cylinder
heads and hold them there after 10 to 15 minutes running. Can put screw
driver into plug cap after engine dies and get no shock when engine is
cranked, Bad Stator or??? TIA for any advice.
