Over the years Merk has gone from special oil for their tilt/trim unit to 30
weight motor oil then to auto transmission fluid.

I think any of these will work in your unit. It is not necessary to bleed
the system, after a few uses it will have bled itself.

You may have too heavy oil in it right now causing the slow action.
