Congratulations!
If you don't have a lot of money in buying it, be careful about
putting a lot into it. Make sure it's safe and you are too by doing
some studying of boating rules, carrying the right safety equipment,
and not putting yourself or loved ones in danger.
If you're handy you can replace the plywood yourself, and there's lots
of guys here with boat experience that can give you some tips about
that and fiberglass repair.

I have a good friend who makes it by the ton for the Woodstock
Fair and he can't keep up with the demand.

I believe it. That stuff was everywhere in Disneyland. Just the smell of it
makes me want to lean overboard...

BTW, got it for $1250.00


My first boat was a 16 footer and had a soft floor too. I picked it up for
300 bucks because the seller thought it did not run. Good deals are out
there...but usually only from owners who know nothing about the boat they
own. Which is the biggest "BEWARE" out there.

If you plan to replace the flooring yourself, be sure to use marine grade
ply woods. I covered the plywood on both sides with a double layer of
fiberglass repair. I completely removed my floor and found structural
problems below it. Even that was not hard to repair. But this was a month
long project. I was not in a hurry.

13 years after selling that boat, I still run into the new owner at the
various lakes I frequent. He's always pleasent and cheerful which leads me
to believe the flooring held up.

If the Force runs well, you got a good price on a outboard with a boat
thrown in. I'd do as another suggested and not sink a ton of money into it,
and use it as is, maybe overlay and screw down a piece of plywood over the
spongy area. Good luck, have fun, be safe.....ps there are numerous online

If you end up cutting out the floor, make mearsurements of the width of the
boat at several places and make a couple of braces to keep the sides from
moving outward. The floor acts as joists to keep the sides in alignment
also.
