I was wondering if anyone could help me determine the cause of a
knocking noise when i engage my prop in forward or reverse (1997 Mercruiser Alfa One outdrive). I gues I'm trying to determine if I can pull the lower unit and replace worn parts myself or if I should bring my boat to the shop. Any advice or comments will be greatly appreciated. Mike |

Mercruisers clunk or clatter into gear depending on your shifting style. At
other times you might be hearing engine miss, shutter noise, or some other engine or drivetrain noise. Noises are hard to describe and even harder to diagnose. "Mike" wrote in message oups.com... Mike Have you had your shift linkage adjusted? Mine knocked for a while, but stopped when the linkage was adjusted. The rapid knocking occurred when shifting from forward to reverse. -- *****Have a Spectacular Day!***** John H |
