Our kitchen was finished with extensive use of Corian. We've already had it professionally "refinished" twice, but it just doesn't live up to it's advertised durability, IMO. I think next time we'll go with granite. Eisboch |

At some point, we're going to redo the main kitchen countertops in granite. |

JohnH was one of the few invited out on Harry's boat, but got fussy & decided the Parker wasn't worth his time. You'd think he'd be more appreciative. Herring is an a**hole. That's why he lives in my bozo bin with the rest of the a**holes. A friend took delivery of his new boat today, and I went along to help him with docking and to splice up some lines for his slip. The sun was out for a little while, and though it was cool, it wasn't chilly. We went out on the Bay for about 45 minutes and saw a few hard cases fishing. For what I don't know. Right now I'm engaged in painting up my home office space in anticipation of installing new cabinets for a nice work desk and a kitchenette. Did the design on Autocad, got Home Despot to spec up what I wanted and order the case goods. Cabinets are supposed to arrive the last week in April. I'm doing the electrical, carpentry and plumbing, which gives me the opportunity to electrocute myself, cut off a few fingers with a table saw, and flood the lower level. I'm not doing the countertops, though. Once the cabinets are in, I've got a countertop guy coming out to do a template from which he manufactures the counters. There, Don, what did I tell you? Harry, you're such a neat guy that being called a name by you is a distinct honor. Hope you and Jimmy enjoy your countertop discussion. PS. Those fishing in the bay are doing so for stripers, as anyone who ventures into the bay would know. -- *****Have a Spectacular Day!***** John H |

What will the counters be made of...the laminate stuff or Coran? No major products for me this year. just dropped $2k rebuilding my van transmission, exhaust repairs etc. I may have to get a job to support that old Voyager. Just did the wife's taxes & she owes a small fortune to the tax man. Gotta be careful working and pulling in a pension at the same time. Plastic laminate. I like Corian as a material, but I don't like the way it looks. It looks more plastic than plastic. It's trophy season, 28" minimum. |

It's really nice to take something off the stovetop or out of the oven, and be able to place it directly on the countertop. No worries about discoloration or burning. |
