Friday the 13th. Boating superstitions?
"Chuck Gould" wrote in message ps.com... Anybody willing to admit to observing any particular superstitions when boating? You hear all sort of things, from "no bananas allowed aboard", to no whistling allowed, etc. Yup. The banana thing. One isn't a superstition though, at least years ago. If you have any doubt, you never "whistled" while you worked aboard a US Navy destroyer back in the 60's or 70's. Eisboch |

Maybe some of my behavior is superstitious and I don't realize it. BTW, one reason Friday the 13th is considered an "unlucky" day is that it was Friday, October 13, when the King of France ordered the Knights Templar killed and/or arrested to be killed later. (Lesson to be learned, don't be richer than the king when he's trying to wage an expensive war). OMG.....talk about reaching to start a boating related thread. So you see this as better than an OT post about Vonage? One of these days I'll get into the actual spirit of the NG and post about buying a lawn mower, pumping a septic tank, etc, Jim. :-) ============ Good. Maybe then you will show that you actually lead a normal life and not one involving boating 24x7. Take some time this weekend to relax Chuck and perhaps take some time away for your boat. I bet your wife would appreciate a nice dinner out without the conversation revolving around your boat. ;-) oops....edit. ...*from* your boat........... Doh! Writing *and* reading problems? You have to answer yourself now? -- *****Have a Spectacular Day!***** John H |
