Default sea kayaking in Johnstone Strait

Hi, I am an English Sea Kayaker and I am looking for help as I would
like to go paddling in the johnstone Straight with friends to view
Orcas. I have read on the net about paddling with an organised group,
but would prefer to paddle in a small group of friends, self
supported. How would I go about doing this over there as I cannot
bring my boats and gear with me. I guess I would like to hire boats
etc for a couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me who to go to for help. I
am not familiar with your protected areas, outfitters and holiday
companies etc. What would be the cost of such a trip for gear, permits
etc. Where is the nearest airport? When is the best time to go?
Cheers
Jim.
