Hi all,
I recently bought an older (70s I think) Mercury 7.5 hp outboard as a kicker for my boat. I want to be able to just lock the motor in the straight position and use the rudder of the boat for steering. Is there any locking mechanism on the motor to keep it pointed straight or will I always have to keep it straight using the tiller handle? Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA, Mike -- He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. -- Anonymous |

TIA, Mike I have a 71 merc 7.5 on a aluminum fishing boat. No way to lock it like you discribe. It will tilt up and out of the water. But not down and straight. Capt Jack R.. |
