Oh you've come to the right place for opinions cause we've got 'em !

If your Johnson outboard has been given reasonable care up to now and you
continue the pattern you should expect years of service from it. In mixing
the oil and gas always error on the side of too much oil in stead of too
little oil. The worst thing too much oil can do is fowl the sparkplugs,
where too little oil and it's good bye Johnson !

Check to lower unit often and be certain that no water is getting in and
making the lubricant milky thus risking ruined bearings and gears.

Remove the fuel line each time you finish using the boat while the boat is
still on the trailer and the motor is in the water and run the engine dry so
no fuel remains in the carb, fuel pump and lines. This will prevent stale
fuel from making a mess of the fuel system.

If there is any hint of water or rust in the fuel tank, dispose of the tank
and go to Wal-Mart or your boat dealer and purchase a replacement tank, hose
and primer bulb. This is cheaper than rebuilding the carbs. Plastic fuel
tanks are cheap and never rust.

Do these things and your motor will give years of good service.
