Now, in an attempt to bring this back on topic, I have a question for the group. A friend insists that I wash and wax my boat while before I re-launch it for the season. How necessary is that? Will it rot if I don't? -- Stan I wash, polish and wax my boat before it is splashed for the season. I also wash and wax the boat most every time I take it out from mid June to September (when the water is warm enough for me to jump in at a shallow sandy area). If I cannot get in the water I wash the boat at the dock before taking it out. I may be compulsive/obsessive but I like my boat to look clean when I take it out, even for fishing. ;-) Yeah, my friend is like that, too. What I want to know, though, is whether or not it's necessary to the well-being of the boat. It will help protect the gel coat, but if you keep your boat at a marina with the same side to the sun all the time, you will get fading no matter what you do. But the gel coat will be in good shape. Thanks. -- Stan |
