You saw a very vicious deer attack, but both the deer and the hunter
walked away. One can believe anything one wants to, and is the reason
we see so many urban legends running rampant, but if you look at the
real statistics of animal related fatalities:

Deer attacks are not even listed.

As I said, it sounded like a fact if it is repeated enough, people will
believe it.
