By the time that storm hits us along the coast tomorrow, we'll get some
snow
but then it's expected to turn to rain. Fairly high winds expected.

Behold, the iceman cometh.

Started off as rain last night and this morning,t hen turned to sleet/
rain/ice/ mix, then ice, then more ice, then wind and snow. didn't get
much ground coverage, but the ground is convered with ice mush, and
the hwy. dept can't keep up. the plows just shave off a layer, and
thats about it. Pretty slick out in the streets.

So far, we've had some light rain which has frozen on the ground. The feds
sent home their employees at 2 PM today so they could avoid icy roads.

We're supposed to have "frain"* through tomorrow afternoon.

* Sonny Eliot reference.

Wife is saying it is chilly again. Dropped from 60's to the 50's. But
supposed to be 70's by Thursday.

Yeah, it sux here in northern California don't it? We took our boat up to
Bass Lake last weekend for some trout fishing, but shoulda called and asked
if there was any water in the lake. Didn't matter anyway, it rained like
hell all weekend. We had some family that rented a place up there for a week
(hence the trip), so it wasn't a total wash... pardon the pun g.

Yikes... I hadn't thought of him in a long time. I remember
how he used to point out an obscure UP town "just about
here" and the map would squeak.

You mean like Ypsalanti or Houghton/Hancock? Trout Creek? Ishpeming?
Escanaba?

I can't remember any more of those from my "yute"... :)

There are 3 to 5 foot drifts everywhere. Everything is shut down.

This storm had to have dumped another foot or so of snow on folks in the
Rochester and Buffalo New York area, with those areas already having 10+
feet of snow on the ground.
