In the 18 some odd years since we installed the Jotul wood stove, we have never burned 24/7 for longer than one of two days. This cold snap has been on for a week and it hasn't stopped burning. I'm impressed though - keeps the house at an even 70 and is very efficient with the wood. |

Keeps the whole house at a nice toasty warm 70/75, 24/7. Very efficient too - in conditions like this, I don't burn a lot of wood. Inserts can be a good option and increase the value of your fire place, but they aren't as efficient. Stay away from pellet stoves unless you are planning on putting the stove in the basement. They are noisy as hell. |
