Well, i come home, and key in to rec boats, and looks like google has
completely changed its format. I'm not against change, but this I dont' care for. supposedly "new and improved" but harder to navigate. I don't like it. Dont' like it one bit? Anybody else out there use Google? Anybody else disatisfied? |

It does not come with all the bells and whistles a pay for NG reader does but it works fine for me...................and it is free. |

I use a computer because they have replaced typewriters, and because they are dominating the field of casual communication. The average 12-year old knows more than most adults about computers, and the average 9-year old knows more than I do. Try collapsing the list of threads on the left hand side. That makes the posts a lot more readable. Trying to display both at once seems to put the posts into a one-column format, and it is tedious to read 3-4 words and then have to drop a line for the rest of the phrase. Give it 3-4 days and it will probably seem normal. I was put off by the change initially, but sometimes it can be easy to be put off merely because something *has* changed, even if with a bit of practice and experience it will become evident that the change was for the better. |

Chuck, you have a point there.
Presently I'm posting on my work computer, and its still on Windows98. while at home I have XP. maybe thats a difference, but the "new" Google format seems more friendly on this old clunker, than it doe's at home. I don't know why, but on this box the "new" seems like the "old" format. hmmmm. I'm also very computer unsavy. I confess. JimH I will investigate Outlook Express, and have my 16 yr. old daughter see if she can line me up with it. Jim, my ISP is a local guy who isn't affiliated with anyone, really.
He's a farmer, who has the ISP on the side. in fact I get wireless for free. Well, I souldn't say "free" . it's actually "bartered" I get wireless, and I fix his tracter starters etc. it's really a win-win situation. But it's bare necessities. In another thread, same subject, are some url's for free versions of Agent. I've been using Agent 1.91 for years and find it meets all my requirements very well. It *does* have email, although I use MS Outlook for email. Try it, you may like it! Stolen from PhantomMan's post: "Free Agent is still available. The last standalone version is 1.21 IIRC, available he http://freepctech.com/rode/018.shtml Later versions also available in places like: http://mirrors.easynews.com//agent/f...agent/english/ The only option I miss with Free Agent is "Mail".... maybe filter capabilty too. But it beats the hell outta trying to read Googlegroups, that's for sure." |
