Rain - On Lake Hartwell ??
I'm not saying that when it rains here, it rains all over the world,
but I didn't think there was much in the US that was in a drought condition. Clams Canino wrote: At last.... WATER!!! whew -W |

Nah, the cold weather, if it come, will kill the *******s. But we will be selling once my son is done with college........hopefully in 2010. By that time my daughter will be on her own. We will be downsizing from this 3,800 square foot house to a single story with walk out basement on the Huron Lagoons....or a condo on the Vermilion River. |

Damn... 3,800 of living area *including* our finished basement. We designed the basement so it could easily be converted into an in-law suite as it has a full bath, kitchen area (less stove and only a bar fridge) and TV/sitting area. The rest is a playroom with pool table, foosball and pinball. The unfinished area includes closets and my workroom. With both kids soon gone we do not need this size of house and will definitely get something smaller. |

I grew up in a small bungalow and then a modest 4 bedroom ranch with my 4 sisters. We had a pond in the back that my dad dug. We skated on it during the winter. My good friend down the road had a big hill in his backyard we used for sledding. It had a nice open space at the bottom of the hill and played baseball and football on. My buddy next door had a basketball hoop that was great for 2 on 2 or 1 on 1 games, including HORSE. We spent a lot of time outside. I probably had more fun in that house (1 tv, 1 telephone) than my kids did in this house. But you only live once and the house has appreciated nicely since we built it. ;-) |

It's been down for over two years as they reinforced the dam. I was out last Saturday, and we've got our lake back! |

Carlyle is a semi man-made lake, that is fed by the Kaskaskia river
that was dammed up in the early 50's., and the lake is shallow in some places, but not bad, that is IF you know where to go. Basicly though, it's either full, or fuller. I like lake Murray, We use to live in Lexington and used that marina by the dam to launch from. It was great because it was so close to the house. We were there when they droped the lake to kill the hydrilla that was choking the shallows, did that work out ? Capt Jack R.. |
