I used to moor where my boat was a perch for "Hussein" the heron. Great blue herons leave a great white puddle when they poo- imagine a gallon of whitewash spilled on the deck decorated with chunks of regurgitated pizza. In an effort to thwart Hussein, I tried leaving the AM radio turned on to 24 hour talk stations. It worked for a short period of time. Naturally the first station I tried had a number of fairly progressive hosts, (wouldn't want anybody walking by my boat to get the wrong impression), but after the first couple of days Hussein was back with all of his nasty habits once again. In desperation, I turned to the local station that pumps out a steady stream of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and the like. The right wing hosts didn't seem to faze Hussein at all, leaving me wondering about the heron's politics as well as whether he was simply too smart or too stupid to be frightened by (either liberal or conservative) political extremists. I find a lot of that stuff pretty scary, myself. I'm at a loss to recommend a permanent solution for you. It's pretty obvious that if your first herd of mice were driven off by photos of right wing extremists, their exodus may only create space for a group of mice with different political preferences. The neo-mice may turn your boat into some sort of venerated shrine. The neo- mice will be more interested in having very large families, and will spend a greater number of hours per day working at their professional task-destroying your boat. You could always hang up photos of John Kerry, HIllary Clinton, and Barak Obama to disperse any mice previously attracted to Limbaugh, Coulter, et al....but the risk you run if you do so is that you could then be plagued with a herd of Democratic precinct chairmen all trying to register your next batch of rodents to vote.... :-) Do you have a couple of neighbors you don't care for much? You could always hang the conservative photos in one neighbor's boat (thereby diverting the conservative mice in that direction) and the liberal photos in another's. |

He must be spinning his head off right now, what with Bush saying he wants to increase troops, but most of the right wing along with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Colin Powell, and most of the military brass saying that won't work! |

The trick was to get rid of the mice. Hanging photos of John Kerry, HIllary Clinton, and Barak Obama may get rid of a few conservative mice, but it would attract bilge rats. I'd rather have a few conservative mice running around. -- John H *Have a great Christmas and a spectacular New Year!* |

Yeah, politicized mice are tough. Next thing you know they'll be posting off topic on the internet and making a mess out of everything. Happy holidays everyone, I'm going boating in a few minutes. |
