At least I did not hypocritically claim that I "wasn't following" the
thread.

How truly amazing that you and the other combatants in this thing would
post your nasty, snide, and inflammatory comments in a public forum and
then get all ****y when somebody
keeps track of who said what.

Chuck,
I think you did a great job in reviving a thread that had died a natural
death.

Two points to JohnH. One for a third party personal remark, another for
renewing a call to argue .

Why did you screw Don out of his points for the initial allegations that
started this? What have you got against Canadians?

It was supposed to be a good news story John...remember when you liked
them...

A good news story wouldn't lay blame on Americans for ruining your islands,
especially without proof.

Don't give yourself so much credit. The group remarks in general
included some that were
nasty, snide, and inflammatory. Yours were merely inflammatory,
challenging Don White to
somehow prove or disprove that Canadians are more generous than
Americans. Sounds like a first class boating topic to me. (Unless you'd
want to call your later remark to me "snide", but I wasn't including
that in my reference).

Inflammatory remarks and all trolls should be posted in rec.bAITs.

For a guy who only scored one point, before I gave up keeping score,
you sure got your hackles up in a hurry.

Why wouldn't it be fairly obvious that remarks posted to a public forum
will be noticed by somebody? So, the question is this: Is it the
greater offender who comments on the quality and content of the remark,
or the greater offender who posts the remarks to begin with?

Here's what I think is going on - Seasonal Affective Disorder.

In my case my less than jovial mood is a result of ingesting about 1/2 the
number of calories I used to take in for the past 7 weeks.

For anyone interested in an engineering approach to exercise, dieting ...
plus a goodly number of other interesting things, visit John Walker's
website. Walker was the founder and president of Autodesk (AutoCad). He
sold it in the late 80's (or maybe in 1990) and has returned to his favorite
pastime .... writing computer code. His "Hacker's Diet" is a very
interesting and humorous POV on weight loss and exercise and is a good read
even if you aren't dieting. The preface and introduction gives a good
overview of his approach.

From there you can link to his other websites where he covers subjects from
astrology to mathematics. He offers free downloads of some interesting
programs he has written as well.

I spent a couple of hours last night on his sites and found them to be
toughly enjoyable.

Great theory, but it isn't supported by the evidence. The OT posts continue
year-round, mostly from a cadre of regulars who appear to live at this NG.
How much boating, or any other activity, can a person do while posting
dozens of posts every day? I would agree that Chuck is tilting with
windmills, but cold weather isn't the problem. I think a majority of the
regulars want a place where they can BS about any subject that comes to
mind, and sometimes that subject will be boats and many times it won't. It
also helps that there are no restrictions on what can be said, and no
repercussions for bad behavior. This NG obviously fills a need for many
regular posters.

I have a feeling we could post a list of those, and each of our lists
would have most of the same names on it.

Yes...they give themselves away almost every post.
I'd question if some of them even boat.
