We're getting some strong winds right now. I got the leaves off the yard
earlier. Now it looks like it's not been touched. I hate leaves.

My wife and I laughed at folks raking their lawns today knowing we would
have high winds later. ;-)

I wait until the second week of November, then do the lawn.

Gets all the little bas...er...leaves that way.

I've got 11 large oaks to contend with. If I don't hit the leaves every
third or fourth day, I'd never be able to wade through them. I'm talking
some serious leaves here!

We're expecting rain & heavy winds also. Spent all day working on our new

Some of us give it up by choice because we're allergic to it.

That was my problem. Beer made my belly get big.

Ditto, along with a thick tongue, headache, and upset stomach. Sometimes it
would even affect my equilibrium and make walking difficult.

Allergies are a bitch!

I'm hitting the job with the leaf blower today.... 21 MPH gusts
yesterday did a number on the leaves and if I don't get a head-start
it is just too much of a PITA to wait... especially since we had very
poor fall color this year and the leaves are all turning brown and
falling at the same time...

First I have to get the damn acorns up. Right now they're blanketing the
back yard. Know any good way to do that?

So far I've been able to get the leaves up with the mower, but soon they'll
be too thick for that.

One of our horse paddocks has a very old apple tree in it. It still
produces apples, but lost a major limb in a snow storm a few years ago.
The limb represented about a third of the tree. I don't completely
understand why, but having some kind of weird respect for it we had a
professional tree person come over and he worked on it, injecting something
in it to help nurse it back to health.

Unfortunately, yesterday's storm took another third down.

How did you find room for the house?

Damn - sorry again - couldn't help it. :)

When the house was built, 1987, they apparently left any tree that was
about ten or more feet from the foundation.
