The problem with SF is that you can't tell the difference between winter and summer, as in the old joke about spending a winter in San Francisco one August. Summer and winter are drastically different on SF Bay. The sailors love summer as we get much more wind on the bay then plus lots more fog. The 50 degree offshore water and the 100 degree inland valley supplies the raw energy for the wind farms between the two. Winter is mild, maybe 3 months of rain, about 22" total, and the hills are green. Actually one of the nice times to visit the north part of the state. And Dungeness crab season runs from Nov. 11 to end of June. |
