THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CLEVELAND HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY FOR MOST OF NORTHERN OHIO AND INLAND NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA. WEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH THIS AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS AROUND 45 MPH. WINDS OF THESE MAGNITUDES MAY CAUSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS AND LAWN FURNITURE TO BE BLOWN AROUND AND DAMAGED. A FEW TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES MAY COME DOWN. THE STRONG WINDS ARE DUE TO A RAPIDLY STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM. THE LOW IS EXPECTED TO MOVE FROM THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY TO LAKE ONTARIO BY TONIGHT AND TO QUEBEC ON SUNDAY. |

But, there isn't much better than a nice hot cup of coffee when it's cold and you're lounging. Do you spend the bad weather on your boat for safety purposes or just because you like to? Just time to clean up my act. Started working out in the gym, losing some pounds, lifting some weights, just generally trying to get back to a reasonable facsimilie of my former self. I love the taste of a good beer, but the beer no longer loves me. It comes with age. I totally understand! As to your question of the boat and weather .... both. They are both still in the water and as a practice I try to check on them before a good blow. I also enjoy staying on the Navigator when the weather is bad and the winds are blowing. It's a nice escape. I'll bet. I would really enjoy that! I'm a freak for bad weather! When I lived in FL I'd get giddy when a hurricane was approaching! Strange how it can be exciting and calming all at the same time! Eisboch |

For us, a picture from yesterday's San Francisco bay near Mt. San Bruno. over there. I did not take the pic as I was up in the delta, fighting the hydrilla. Even had to disassemble the heat exchanger to clean out that crap. |

Summer and winter are drastically different on SF Bay. The sailors love summer as we get much more wind on the bay then plus lots more fog. The 50 degree offshore water and the 100 degree inland valley supplies the raw energy for the wind farms between the two. Winter is mild, maybe 3 months of rain, about 22" total, and the hills are green. Actually one of the nice times to visit the north part of the state. And Dungeness crab season runs from Nov. 11 to end of June. |

If we get the winds they are predicting, I'd rather be down here to check the lines on the boats rather than being home worrying about them. Besides, it's fun. Eisboch I am glad I put the boat to sleep last weekend, including putting the winter cover on. We are seeing heavy rains and winds tomorrow are expected to come close to 50 mph. Our friends with the Lyman had hoped to put the tarp on their boat tomorrow.................key word 'hoped'....;-) Went out boating today. Sunburn weather. Hate them water weeds. Had an overheat today. The mossy stuff plugged up the input end of the heat exchanger. Franks track is a flooded island and is about 8' deep. With weeds about 2' below the surface. No Black Bass, lots of little stripers. Decision for tomorrow. SF Bay and halibut and stripers or mokelumne river and stripers and salmon and LM bass? Supposed to cooler tomorrow. High 30's at night, 70's daytime. I went out to look at the Lake during halftime of the Ohio State game. 5-7 footers.........surfs up. Here is a reading of a buoy further out on the Lake: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=45005 The Lake should kick up even more overnight if these winds keep up. |

I hate leaves. |
