........kids?
We have 2, both of which are hard core boating addicts. Our 21 year old is in her last year in college. She grew up on the water, loves boating, fishing and generally being on the water. I got her hooked on fishing when she was about 11 years old, spending the day taking perch off her line and rebaiting it......I think she caught (before limits) 50 yellow perch that day (we ate all of them). She never had any interest in operating our boats other than our inflatable. She continues to love the outdoors and nature and is dating a guy sharing the same interests. Our 18 year old in his first year in college. He also grew up on the water (since he was an infant). He is a licensed boat operator, taking (and passing) the Power Squadron classes last year. With my help he has piloted our 32 footer and now our 20 footer. He will be taking our boat out in his own next summer after some one on one training. He is a health nut and runs 3 miles at least 6 times/week. He also grew up on the water with us on our boats and has kept a high interest in boating. So how about yours................................? |

I must be the youngster of the group... but I started late.
![]() a boy 6 and a girl 3. Both are awesome, and I hope they stay that way. The boy seems to have a natural talent for baseball. He hits from both sides of the plate (throws right), and can really field and throw. He's by far the best (and youngest) on his fall ball team. I know, I know, every dad thinks that, but I manage the team, and other parents have said the same to me. They can't believe he's only 6 (the oldest is 9). --Mike " JimH" not telling you @ pffftt.com wrote in message ... .......kids? We have 2, both of which are hard core boating addicts. Yup, married, and you're absolutely correct. We're doing our best. --Mike "Eisboch" wrote in message ... "Mike" wrote in message om... Both grew up on boats: Just 10 y/o daughter, not that big into power boating but is planning on taking the Power Squadron course this fall/winter. Just 8 y/o son, already an excellent pilot, & skippers our tiller Alumacraft alone since 6(w/ rider grandparent/aunt/uncle/mom in boat) and he is the only one of the kids in the bay that can get it started. Likes driving the inboard OK, but is much more comfortable with the Glastron/115 Evinrude outboard(I think because of the steering & quicker response). He can't understand why 7 or 8 year olds can't get their license and drive alone. I can't get either one too interested in sailing alone, but they like the ride-along once in a while. They do like to canoe & kayak. Rob |

One son, 17, who only gets in the boat if he's guaranteed to catch fish. I
reminded him last year that if he spent a few hours taking the ABSOLUTELY FREE boat safety course, he could take his girlfriend out in the boat without his father. The brilliance of this idea hasn't sunken in yet. |
