Why not? OT is OT, whether it's political or football.

One is friendly, the other leads to flames, name calling, and decidedly
immature behavior. Surely this has not gone unnoticed by you.

I see that Chuck has taken it upon himself to appoint himself as
Extreme Ruler and Grand Poobah of rec.boats. Now if anyone attempts to
post something that he, and he only deems not worthy of his eyes, he
takes it upon himself to change the subject to something stupid. How
does everyone else feel about that? Do you need someone to proofread
your posts, and edit the subject line for you? I don't. I can damned
well choose what I want to read by myself.

You may be smart enough to choose what you want to read, all by
yourself, but you must be too dam* dumb to know how to navigate to the
appropriate newsgroups to post your political nonsense.

There is no ruler or poohbah at rec.boats. This is a group organized so
people can get together on the net and discuss boats, boating, and
boating related topics. Imagine a few guys hanging out at a waterfront
coffee shop to discuss boats. Along comes some jerk who
jumps into the middle of he conversation and says, "Hey, what do you
think about those terrorist-sympathizing, Clinton appointed Democratic
judges?" or "Look what the Idiot In Chief wants to do next in Iraq!"

Some of the guys gathered to discuss boats would be polite enough to
keep their mouths shut and endure the annoying jerk, for at least a
while. Others aren't so polite, or so patient.

Ask yourself this, as you swoon over your self centered reflection in
the nearest available mirror. What is worse? Changing the header on a
single topic, or trying to fu*k up the newsgroup? Despite owning some
little skiff and going fishing once in a while, you seldom express any
interest in boating related topics. You're far more interested in
GD'ing
George Bush and stirring up political nonsense than in talking boats,
so the obvious question is: Why the hell don't you take your political
garbage off to some newsgroup or discussion group organized for that
purpose?

You shouldn't be surprised when boaters get ****ed off at non boaters
trying to turn the boating discussion group into a political campaign
platform. For either side.

But if you keep practicing your outrageous and inconsiderate behavior,
don't be surprised when once in a while one of the boaters calls you to
task for it. A few others who know darn well who they are can expect
the same as well.

So, what's worse? Changing the header on a post or raising your middle
finger to the basic purposes for which a group has gathered and
insisting that you *should* be allowed your daily political rant and
name-calling marathons? You life must be one empty place if you have to
post ridiculously off topic political stuff to a boating NG just to
fill the time.

How does it feel to be the annoyed, instead of the one annoying, for a
change?

I support any attempt to keep this group on topic. Is it so hart to
figure out when to find a group that is discussing the topic you want to
discuss?

If you want politics go to "where the pros are and take them on"

So I guess if Chuck wnats to be the Supreme Ruler it is ok with me. As
long as he wants to keep things on topic :-)

Chuckie should turn on his killfile, go back to slurping his rag's
advertisers, and stfu.

Because you prefer the immature, inflammatory behavior?

There are some people who only come to rec.boats because it has a
history of immature, inflammatory behavior. They are ****ed off at
Chuck because not as many people who are willing to play their game.

That's not my case. My problem with Chuck is his selectivity.

Guilty as charged. I only harrass the people dedicated to screwing up
the newsgroup. Those constantly trolling for fights through the posting
of OT political and religious nonsense.
This is indeed selectivity. You want to post OT about how the pansies
are blooming in your greenhouse or how badly your bunion aches these
days? Such a post might inspire me to think you're silly and maybe a
bit self absorbed, but you won't be "selected" and called out for
destructive, anti-social, posting behavior.

I have enjoyed you last 2-3 posts, about boats. Keep it up.

Perhaps there are a few who really don't know the difference between an
'OT' post and a *political or religious* OTpost. Perhaps the distinction
should be between 'inflammatory' and 'non-inflammatory'.

There are a few folks here who seem to get their kicks from inflaming
others. There are others who can discuss a controversial topic all day
without the inflammatory, name-calling comments. Those in the first group
are not going to change their behavior because of anything Chuck says, even
though they may apologize and change it for a few days.

Some of those in the second group seem to feel that because they can
discuss political topics all day without calling names and becoming
inflammatory, they should not be called down for political posting.

Given the personalities in this group, how one can think *any* political or
religious post is 'non-inflammatory' is beyond me.

And then there is the group that think using the name 'Kevin', for
basskisser, is appropriate behavior. I'll be the first to admit, however,
that basskisser's typical response is no more appropriate!
