The 2001 model that I've been looking at is priced way below market - it seems that one of the engines blew on the way up from Florida to Cape Cod this past spring. A new engine has been installed - however, I've become quite jittery about making an offer - the price just seems too low. The boat looks like it would fit my needs perfectly - now it's just a matter of deciding which one of the 2 or threes that are on the market here in the NE that I will pull the trigger on. Thanks again for your thoughtful response - I may have some additional questions in the future. Thanks again, Sandy K. I wonder if it was my old boat? Do you recall the name on it? I remember being told by Cat that the first engine "tune up" after the break-in period is critical on the 3126 engines and should be done at 250 hours and not before. They told me it was the most important engine service the engines would require and the timing, valves, etc. (or whatever they do to a diesel) would be set to the after break-in settings. Mine had just short of 230 hours on it when I sold it and the service had not been done. The buyer was informed of the fact and indicated he would attend to it. Hopefully, he didn't forget. Eisboch |
