Like sticking ones tongue in a live light socket There's nothing like experience for a teacher. Do you shelter your kids from climbing trees because they may get a boo-boo? Do you not let them run for fear of a scraped knee when they fall? Do you not let them swim for fear of drowning? Do you watch their every move to make sure they don't do something you think will harm them or get them dirty? Sheesh. That's kinda dumb. If you find out your kid's hanging out with someone who's trying to mix explosives in their garage, do you say nothing? It's a bit different from climbing a tree. No, not really. If you let them have their tumbles and falls with the little things, as opposed to protecting them by making them wear bubble wrap all the time, they learn from experience what NOT to do. |
