N. California Camp Kayak ideas
Not sure if this is the an ok topic for this forum. Planning a trip
near Salt Point or near the outlet of the Russian River beginning of October. Car Camping and day trips on my Sea Kayak. Looking for a spot that has a nice cove to launch and camp sites near the launch site. Oh and a beach for the wife. Looking to be north of Tomales Bay. Any help would be much apreciated. Thanks Mike |

Yes - we just stayed at a GREAT place on the Russian River just north
of Tomales Bay. It was a wonderful campground with lots of riverfront and even a nice sandy beach. Cassini Ranch Family Campground in Duncans Mills, California. Phone is 707-865-2255. Very well stocked campstore and they'll even blow up your air matress for a modest fee. Nice little town with restaraunts etc just down the road. They try to warn you away from the riverfront campsights because they have no shade but we loved them. I seem to remember that 5B was both riverfront and had a bit of shade. |

I stayed at Cassini once. Far from the ocean and screaming kids all
over the place. Wasn't bad though. Salt Point looks nice Mothra wrote: Yes - we just stayed at a GREAT place on the Russian River just north of Tomales Bay. Mike, I'd look at Stillwater Cove which is north of the Russian River. It has a campground and a nice beach launch area in a cove that is generally calm. Salt Point also has camping but the launch would be more difficult. We have also launched kayaks at Fort Ross. Randy |
