Most racing canoes and kayaks have a very sharp break between a fairly vertical bow and the 'keel line'. Look at the bow on the Stratus for example (http://www.wenonah.com/CDKayak/image...Stratus18.jpg). There is a very well defined knuckle at the keel end of the bow. Many non-race oriented boats will have a much softer turn to this point, which does make it easier to turn _as a rule_ -assuming they have the rest of the design sorted out. That knuckle. Marsh |
