Is this it? http://tinyurl.com/eb3vc I heard via the commercial fishing grapevine that a new Aussie firm will be testing a WIG vehicle from Woods Hole, MA to Oak Harbor, Martha's Vineyard and Old Harbor, Block Island this coming summer. Before the Pequots closed their shipbuilding operation, they proposed a WIG ferry from Foxwoods to Montauk and NYC - all supposedly at like 200 mph. :) I could see an application for the Trimaran though in that service. As I understand it the wavepiercing trimarans will not reach those speeds. More on WIG vehicles: http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question...cs/q0130.shtml Cool stuff! |
