![]() Sterling Publishing sent me a copy the new 65th Edition of Chapman's Piloting and Seamanship. Wow, what a difference from my last copy- the 57th Edition from 1985. The "old" book was 624 pages long, and the 2006 version has over 900 pages. (If your boat has a mysterious list, try moving your copy of Chapman's to the other side). Upgrade in the new book include: More color photos, (and photos are of contemporary boats) Updated information on laws, rules, and regulations Up to date and expanded electronics section Most subjects seem to be better illustrated and more completely explained. $60, and easily worth that- (less than the cost of two cans of good varnish). |
