It's pouring, but I wanted to see if there was any surge in the
lowlands, so I skipped down to BP Marina, near here.

Raining too hard to get out of the car, but there is at least a tidal surge:

Here are the ramps. They're completely underwater, as are the concrete
bulkheads and docks.

Here are a couple of boatslips. Note there usually is a grassy area
between the bulkhead and the normally dry land on which this trailerboat
is parked.

This is a shot of the beach. One normally doesn't see water in the Bay
churned up like this. Also, the tide is up on the beach at least 15'
higher than usual.

Hope everything works out OK for you all. I was in Clinton Md for
Agnes and we had 4' of water across the road in a place that "never
floods" according to legend.

I think the worse case for you guys would be one than comes across
around 75w 35n at a Cat 2 or so and went up the Bay/Potomac riverr.
That could put most of "Foggy Bottom", Federal Traingle, lower
Alexandria and SE/SW DC under water. (at least up to the Branch Avenue
hill)
That might end up being your Katrina when Anacostia goes under.
Plenty of those folks would not have the resources to fend for
themselves. How long do you figure it would take FEMA to react there?

Depends on who is president. If it is Bush, it'll take a week at least.
Someone will have to tell him where Anacostia is, of course.

The lowlands on my side of the Bay flood easily at high tides.

I just got an automated call from the county alert system, telling me we
might have 8" of rain in the next 8 hours.

I'm not worried about the Bay up here on my hill, but I am concerned
about falling trees or wind damage to the roof.

Maryland has a governor whose head isn't up his ass. Anacostia's mayor can
most likely do much better than the one in New Orleans.
