Default seadoo speedster 200 jetboat,2006 model

We
like to cruise, ski, tube, wakeboard, kneeboard, swim, and just loaf
around on the water.

TO cruise, ski, tube, wakeboard, kneeboard, and swim, etc. how would a
jetboat not be as good (or even better) as a traditional boat? Jetboat
has way more pickup at the beginning, can corner turn on a dime, and as
far as swimming around the boat, very safe when the boat is on because
you don't have to worry about a propeller... what am I missing??

the gas thing, right? on a 30 gallon tank it says you can get about 90
miles.. so like 3 mpg.. not that hot.. but a lot of 2strokes get
worse/same i bet. let's say 4strokes get double at 6mpg -- that would
be a savings of about $500 a year if you averaged about 180 gallons for
4strokes and 360 gallons for the jetboat.. for going 61 miles per hour,
$500/yr extra is worth it to me.

HOWEVER, if maintenance is more costly (specialized mechanics
required??) or more frequently that adds up really, really quickly..
any opinions there?

i'm thinking about purchasing the speedster 200. i read that the 2006
model has a nice 1 touch suck-everything-out-of-impeller system going
for it that its younger models never had. nice feature in my book --
not fun sticking your hand up there plucking weeds out. it's somewhat
pricey (i've found $26K out the door on the 2006 model)... that
wouldn't be the only reason, there are some other important emission
reductions that happened in 2006 as well and like 100+ more HP...

my question to the group is, are there any other models that i should
be comparing the speedster 200 to? or does anyone know anything wrong
with the speedster 200?

thanks,

kyle
