Default 1979 Johnson 100 HP water jetting out from upper/lower unit joint

Hi fellow boaters,

I just purchased a boat with an 1979 Johnson 100Hp on it. It needs a
tune up but runs, but seems to have something not right on the joint
between the upper and lower unit. When running with muffs on, water is
jetting out from this joint which I don't think is normal. What could
be causing this to happen. From the some of the websites that show
the exploded diagram for this, I don't see a gasket/seal around the
edge of the unit.

Any and all thoughts and opinions welcome.

Bill
