Default Boycott Gettysburg

Link to photos showing how the battlefield looked before superintendent John
Latschar raped it.
http://users.snip.net/~hart/

We loved Gettysburg: took dozens of week-long trips, spent many thousands of
dollars there, but those days are over thanks to park superintendent John
Latschar. He's ruining the battlefield. He calls it restoration. Desecration
is more descriptive. If we spent another dime we'd be supporting the
destruction. Trees are being ripped out wholesale. The deer have been
slaughtered. Visiting on a Nov. evening is an experience everyone should be
able to enjoy, but he shortened the hours so you'll be ticketed and labeled
criminals. He threw up so many one-way signs that traffic has become a
tourist's nightmare. He likes saying, "The time for comment was during the
planning, not now." Well, Bozo, the public DID and continues to comment, but
you ignore them. Tens of 1000s have voiced their concern, but you act as
though the battlefield is your own private domain. It belongs to the
taxpayers, not an arrogant, government-appointed bureaucrat. Ghost hunters
have been turned away in droves. He said they're in the same category as
drug users. (look it up) What a moron. Not only is the town losing a fortune
toward the local economy, the park is losing thousands of watchful eyes.
Those with evil intent will always gain access at night, as was proven by
the recent vandalism. Closing the park merely keeps honest folks out. John
Latschar has, in affect, given vandals free rein. Attendance is lagging. He
blames everything except his own bumbling. He moans about never having
enough money, yet continues wasting funds on senseless projects that divide
the townspeople and drives others away. It's typical government ineptness.
Looks like John Latschar sits around dreaming up new ways to **** people
off. If he's not shooting the wildlife, cutting down 100s of acres of trees,
or screwing up traffic flow, he'll devise some other dumbass plan. Chances
are he'll eventually move on to another location leaving his mess and debts
behind for someone else. (He's done it before) What's worse than allowing
John Latschar to inflict so much damage to such hallowed ground? Most of you
sit idly by and let it happen without so much as a whimper. Talk is cheap,
holding back spending speaks volumes. We're doing our part. Good bye
Gettysburg. You were our favorite place on Earth until John Latschar raped
you. Now you're just a memory. What a pity and disgrace.

Find out if he uses outside contractors for some of the work, especially the
ongoing tree work. Then, write a letter to the local paper. Using the most
innocent wording you can muster, question whether Latschar might be just a
little bit too cozy with some of these contractors. Bribed, in other words.
He's probably not, but it's always fun to drag a local whore out from under
his rock and into the spotlight.

Halliburton syndrome?

It begins locally. I'm about to write a letter to our local paper about yet
another major project that'll eat up taxpayer money, cause traffic problems,
and in the end, fail and/or be hated by everyone who views it. It's an awful
idea, and yet, a number of politicians are pushing relentlessly to go ahead
with it. Public comment meetings have almost turned violent because it's
clear that the fix is in, the meetings are pointless.

The letter will probaby result in my being sued for slander, or my home
being blown up. I'll be suggesting that the politicians who favor the
project should explain their relationships with certain construction
companies, or be looked at by the FBI.

Figures a sewer rat like you would try to twist an obvious government
****up into an attack on honest private enterprise.

Your childish and petty name calling and insults do nothing but harm
your credibility.

Note that PRIVATE historic facilities such as Mount Vernon and Biltmore
Estate preserve their integrity, and don't tolerate arrogant PC whackjobs
like Latschar. The two ARE related.

Private facilities are in it for the money, period. IF the public
spends money on a place because of it's preserved integrity, so good.
But, if the private entity sees a dollar more can be made by destroying
said integrity, it will. Case in point is Stone Mountain Park here in
Georgia. When the state had it, it was a great place, quiet when you
wanted quiet, cool functions to go to every month or so. Then, the
state sold it to a private entity, and it's turned into just another
money grab. It's the same company that owns Dollywood. They've turned a
historically significant place into an amusement park.

Figures an immature little **** like you would pretend corruption is
unlikely in these situations when, in fact, it happens all the time.

No, I'm the one who pointed out that GOVERNMENT operations are FAR MORE
LIKELY to be corrupt.

Perhaps if you'd use what little intellectual skill you have to write
clearly, instead of beginning your participation by insulting people, you
would have communicated the first time.

If you care about the issue then act. Just whinging about it on a
newsgroup, especially one entirely unrelated to the issue, is pointless. To
then cop out whining that you're afraid you'll get bombed or claim
conspiracy theories with the government just makes you look like a crackpot.

Oh, believe me, I'll be at the public meetings, even though they're
pointless. Letters to the local papers are probably pointless, too, although
it might be fun to see a few of the crooks work up a sweat in their
responses.
