A friend has a 94 bayliner reflex that isn't starting.
I got there; cleaned the battery terminals and it started right up (we just turned the engine to be sure it was turnable; but it started) I shut the engine off -- we hooked up water, and tried to start; no go. The wires got hot & started to smoke; and the engine barely turned over. I tested the battery with a load tester, it tested good. We then looked at the fuel gauge -- nothing; so we added some mix and tried agian -- same; turned over slowly for a brief period then nothing. My guess is that hte starter is bad and is drawing too many amps, as opposed to an engine problem. The other issue could be fuel delivery -- the fuel pump on this -- is it a diaphram type pump prone to rotting? THanks -josh --- AntiSpam/harvest --- Remove X's to send email to me. |
