steering lockup; how to prevent

I have a 115hp Evinrude on a 17' cc.

Because my boat sits around for periods during the offseason, it seems like
everytime I get in it the steering is stuck tight.

OK. I know one preventative is to go out regularly and run the wheel from
lock to lock. Noted and will do.

What else can I do to help prevent it taking a "set", and locking up?
