I have a 140 Suzuki four stroke. When I go to pull the boat out of the
shed, the engine will not trim up. This happens frequently, usually only when moving the boat out of the shed. When I press the down button, it works fine. When I press the up, it only clicks once and then nothing. I did notice the last time this happened, if I would quickly move the switch up and down, it started working. This only happend once, so I don't know if it did anything or it just decided to work when I tried it.... Anyone have a clue as to what's causing this? |

I'm having a similar issue (but the other direction). When switching,
do you hear the click back in the trim motor, or only on the switch? I'm hearing it click on the trim motor, but it's like it's having a hard time getting started. After 6-8 tries it will usually work. Unfortunately the switch is in the throttle handle, and doesn't seem easy to open up for cleaning. Any advice? The click noise is coming from the motor and not the switch.

Had exactly the same thin two months ago on my Merc.
It's the solenoids located in the engine compartment. Replace both the up and down at the same time. I think the Merc solenoids were ony about $13 each. I have a 140 Suzuki four stroke.
