No, "lucky" IMO was a minor factor. The ETECs seem to be a pretty good
motor with better than average reliability. They certainly are strong and have good HP to weight ratios. Wish I could afford one. Butch "trainfan1" wrote in message et... http://www.bymnews.com/new/content/view/31477/56/ Probably not. Rob |

I've moved myself over to "regular" four strokes because of that, because of the quieter operation of four strokes, and at the moment because of the fact that I've had no problems with my Yamaha 225. Why futz around with oil if you don't have to do so? When I was burning Yamalube, the stores/marinas selling Yamalube were never open on Saturday/Sunday...and closed before I got off work during the week. If I was planning an extended trip, and forgot to get my wife to buy the stuff in advance, I had to pay $30/gallon at West Marine. I can only imagine how hard it would be to track down the XD-100/200 stuff for those E-tecs. And then they want $40-50/gallon for it! I absolutely love my new F250's. Quiet, much better on fuel, and the top end is 3-5 mph faster than the 2-strokes they're replacing. |

![]() "Harry Krause" wrote in message . .. That's cool. I'm not that interested in top end, but fuel economy interests me a great deal. I notice Suzuki now has a 300 hp four stroke, and my dealer tells me there is a decent chance Yamaha will have one next year. I see no advantage to using two strokes on boats the size of ours. Now, a 300 hp diesel outboard...that would be intriguing. There's an outfit in Australia that could probably whip one up for you. Eisboch |

I wonder what the results would be if they had a 100 mile, 4 knot, trolling for tuna endurance test. From what I understand, the supposed "failure" mode for the E-Tec was low speed, lean running operation. (Just a thought .... just a thought. Don't want to upset my southerly neighbor.) Eisboch |
